Just to clarify my position, I have never said that Republicans (or Democrats) are good, because they aren't. Repubs have definitely passed some excellent legislation (ie the Emancipation Proclamation), but you are absolutely right that they've been fighting most progressive ideas. (The point of this article is to divorce progressive-conservatism from the Repub party.)
