My county has already tripled tax on Airbnbs and it did literally nothing to slow purchasing. (Most of them are used to paying bigger taxes in major cities, plus the rents+appreciation more than make it worth it.) 10Xing property tax might be a start, or taxing rent-seeking income at 100%, but I'd rather society just ban it outright to send a message that monopolizing a human necessity is morally reprehensible.
