Okay, so we should just continue to exploit the poor forever? Hard pass.

Society needs to start by agreeing that banning for-profit land-lorder is a moral imperative. Then we figure out how to eliminate the rentier class without everyone else not getting hurt. Luckily, there are options:

1. Phase it out over a decade or two via incremental increases in land-lording profit tax and capital gain tax.

2. Hard stop it, and immediately declare a long-overdue debt jubilee or write-down.

You get my point. Houses shouldn't be investments; shelter is a human right. More importantly, rent-seeking is a cancer. It needs to be removed, full stop. But the goal is to do it with as little collateral damage as possible.
