Re: 2 — I think it’s more of “how could we have done any worse.” It always comes back to free will. Love that is compelled isn’t love. Free will opens the door for hate, violence, murder… but also love. We haven’t chosen very well. But yet, humanity still bears the potential to love against all odds.
